Revitalizing the Humanities through Classical Instruction
Since 1883, Longfellow School has proudly served the students of St. Paul.  In 1985, Longfellow embraced a Humanities Magnet focus.

Beginning the 2009-2010 school year, we will add a new chapter to our unique story:  Classical beginning. Enjoying resurgence, the Classical Model is a traditional, content-focused approach to education.  With an emphasis on Western civilization, the Classical Model is designed around three stages: Grammar, Logic and Rhetoric.

The Classic Model will be phased-in. Students in grades K and 1 will be taught basic history and geography facts using the Core Knowledge curriculum. Students will also be introduced to Latin, another distinguishing feature of the Classical Model.

The school is scheduled to be closed June 2010.
