Kindergarten At Longfellow Humanities Magnet School, we are excited to offer two all-day Kindergarten classes! Kindergarteners learn meaningful and core curriculum through the Literacy Workshop model. They participate in small, guided reading groups and phonics during Reader’s Workshop. During Writer’s Workshop, they learn the writing process through oral stories and independent writing time.  Everyday Math is a hands-on curriculum that uses manipulatives to explore a variety of math skills and concepts. Core Knowledge themes are explored daily that allow students to see the world through a variety of lenses.  Kindergarteners focus on an overview of the seven continents, symbols and figures, geography, Native Americans, early exploration, early settlements, and Presidents (Past and Present). In connection with our Humanities, field trips include: Hugo Animal Farm, Como Planetarium, Minnesota Children's Museum, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and the Como Zoo. Welcome to Team Kindergarten!
