Special Education

As at all Saint Paul schools, special education is available at
Longfellow Humanities Magnet School.

Special education includes the areas of learning disabilities, speech and language, developmental and cognitive delay, social-emotional and behavior, occupational therapy, vision, hearing, and physical impairment. There is a referral process that is followed when students are demonstrating apparent needs in any of these areas.

Children must be assessed to determine if they meet eligibility requirements set by state and federal
guidelines.

Parents are an integral part of the team which plans how best to meet any
child's special needs.

The Longfellow Special Education staff include the following:

Aline Petzold, School Psychologist
Jerri Pumroy, School Social Worker
Aliesha Geissler, Speech-Language Therapist
Melissa MacPhail, Learning Disability Teacher
